Error: while activating norton 360

This is a common problem while activating norton 360. However, people get frustrated to see that and after uninstalling and re-installing the problem if you still see the error, I have a simple solution that you can try.

 1> open command promt  using as administrator.

 2> In the command prompt type> ipconfig/flushdns and press enter

 3>And after that type> netsh winsock reset and press enter and restart the pc.

 4>Once restarted try to activated again.

How to remove Active Desktop Recovery screen?

1. Go to Run and type regedit
2. Now navigate to this path – HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Desktop\SafeMode\Components
3. You would find a key named DeskHtmlVersion
4. Right click the key and select Modify
5. Under the label Base, select the radio button Decimal
6. Change Value data to 0
7. Click OK

This should do the trick. If the screen doesn’t go then try restarting your PC for the changes to take effect.

Unable to start print spooler services : follow the steps

Just try these steps and the issue is bound to vanish

1. Click the Start button on the desktop
2. Click Run
3. Type in REGEDIT
4. Click on HKEY_LOCAL _MACHINE
5. Click on System
6. Click on Current Control Set
7. Click on Services
8. Click on Spooler
9. Click on Depend On Service on the right hand side
10. This should open a Edit Binary Value window
11. Delete the rows corresponding to LexBces only and then select OK
12. Reboot the PC

Proceed further and the error should not occur again
Do respond as to what was the outcome ?

You can temporarily disable security software to test this issue first. If the issue still persists, let’s check the Spooler dependency services in registry.
1.Click Start , type regedit in the Search box, and then press ENTER.
2. Locate and then click the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Spooler
3. Right-click Spooler, click Export, Save a backup file on your desktop.

NOTE: If an unexpected issue be encountered after modifying registry, please double click the file to restore the backup .
4. In the details pane, if the DependOnService value shows values of RPCSS and other key, right-click DependOnService, and then click Modify.
5. In the Value data box, delete other key, and then click OK.
6. Exit Registry Editor.

Please restart the computer to test this issue again.

How can I disable the User Account Control (UAC) feature on my Windows Vista computer?

Method #1 - Using MSCONFIG

1. Launch MSCONFIG by from the Run menu.
2. Click on the Tools tab. Scroll down till you find "Disable UAC" . Click on that line.
   
3. Press the Launch button.
4. A CMD window will open. When the command is done, you can close the window.
5. Close MSCONFIG. You need to reboot the computer for changes to apply.

You can re-enable UAC by selecting the "Enable UAC" line and then clicking on the Launch button.
*Recommended: Speed up Vista boot times by reducing the number of programs that load at startup. Control your Vista startup list with this Vista app

Method #2 - Using Regedit

1. Open Registry Editor.
2. In Registry Editor, navigate to the following registry key:

   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System

3. Locate the following value (DWORD): EnableLUA and give it a value of 0.
   
Note: As always, before making changes to your registry you should always make sure you have a valid backup. In cases where you're supposed to delete or modify keys or values from the registry it is possible to first export that key or value(s) to a .REG file before performing the changes.

4. Close Registry Editor. You need to reboot the computer for changes to apply.

In order to re-enable UAC just change the above value to 1.

Method #3 - Using Group Policy

This can be done via Local Group Policy or via Active Directory-based GPO, which is much more suited for large networks where one would like to disable UAC for many computers at once.
If using Local Group Policy you'll need to open the Group Policy Editor (Start > Run > gpedit.msc) from your Vista computer.
If using in AD-based GPO, open Group Policy Management Console (Start > Run > gpmc.msc) from a Vista computer that is a member of the domain. In the GPMC window, browse to the required GPO that is linked to the OU or domain where the Vista computers are located, then edit it.

1. In the Group Policy Editor window, browse to Computer Configuration > Windows Settings > Security Settings > Local Policies > Security Options.
   
2. In the right pane scroll to find the User Access Control policies (they're down at the bottom of the window). You need to configure the following policies:
3. You'll need to reboot your computers.

Method #4 - Using Control Panel

1. Open Control Panel.
2. Under User Account and Family settings click on the "Add or remove user account".
   
3. Click on one of the user accounts, for example you can use the Guest account.
4. Under the user account click on the "Go to the main User Account page" link.
   
5. Under "Make changes to your user account" click on the "Change security settings" link.
   
6. In the "Turn on User Account Control (UAC) to make your computer more secure" click to unselect the "Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer". Click on the Ok button.
   
7. You will be prompted to reboot your computer. Do so when ready.
   

In order to re-enable UAC just select the above checkbox and reboot.

Outlook ScanPst.exe .PST Recovery Tool

To get at it, you'll need to navigate to this path using Windows Explorer:
For Outlook XP & 2003: Hard Drive Letter:\Program Files\Common Files\System\MSMAPI\LocaleID (which is 1033 for the USA or similar)
For Outlook 2007: Hard Drive Letter:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE12Now, inside this folder, you're looking for this particular setup file: "Scanpst.exe" When you run the .exe, you'll need to Browse... to your current .pst file and hit Start:

The Inbox Repair Tool will now scan the corrupted .PST file for errors:

If your PST file is recoverable, you'll see the repairable errors show up in the scan results. To fix them, select Repair.:

Transferring Recovered PST File Data to New PST File

Once the repair finishes, Outlook creates a "Recovered" version of your .pst file, and you need to tell Outlook to use it rather than the old, damaged or corrupted .pst file.Next, you'll need to point Outlook in the right direction, namely at the recovered .PST file: Start Outlook Normally Special Note: If Scanpst.exe wasn't able to repair the .pst data file, you may need a stronger repair tool. Try scanning it with the Stellar Phoenix PST repair utility. Select Go from the top menu, choose Folder List:

With the Folder List open, you should see a Recovered Personal Folders folder with the usual Outlook Personal Folders, or a Lost and Found option.If the Lost and Found folder has a file that the Inbox Repair Tool successfully fixed, it will show up here. If it's empty, the Repair Tool was unsuccessful.If you do see a fixed .pst file in the Lost and Found box, you'll need to create a new .pst file to move the repaired file(s) to. After you've simply dragged the files over from the "Recovered" .pst file to the newly created .pst file , you can turf the Recovered Personal Folders contents.

In Outlook 2003, the Junk E-Mail Filter is turned on by default. The first time Outlook 2003 moves a message to the Junk E-mail folder, it will notify you with a dialog box.
To change junk e-mail settings in Outlook 2003:

1. On the Tools menu, select Options.
2. In the Options dialog box, in the E-mail section, click Junk E-mail.

1. Choose the level of junk e-mail message protection you want.

Click OK.

1. You can also add or remove email addresses or sending domains to the Safe Senders list. That list can be exported and imported to another computer.

To add a sender to your Safe Senders List, Safe Recipients Lists, or Blocked Senders List:

1. Right-click on a message from the sender.
2. Point to Junk E-mail, and click either Add Sender to Safe Senders List, Add Sender to Blocked Senders List, or Add Recipient to Safe Recipients Lists.

To remove a sender's address from the list of junk mail senders:

1. Click on the message that you wish to mark as Not Junk
2. Click on the Not Junk button in the Outlook toolbar.

Missing Msconfig in windows XP,Vista & 7 ?

You can use the Windows XP  version of  MSCONFIG in vista & 7.

• Copy the file msconfig.exe from the c:\windows\system folder to the Windows 2000 c:\winnt\system32 folder. 

Download the msconfig.exe Windows XP version file from our site if you do not have it easily accessible, this version will work with windows 2000.
if you download this file, save it to the c:\winnt\system32 folder so you can use the Start/Run method to access it, or save it to the desktop, that way you can access it by clicking on the icon it will create on your desktop.

• Click | Start | Run | and type msconfig on the text box and click the OK button to start MSCONFIG
• ignore the error messages you get about not finding the following files
  • config.sys
  • autoexec.bat
  • win.ini
  • system.ini
• Click the startup tab
• Check or Uncheck the check boxes of the programs you want to run or not run
  
  It is best to write down which programs were checked so you can have a copy of them for later reference. Some of the startup entries are from anti-virus programs and must be re-checked after finishing any troubleshooting

• Worth While Tip about the contents of the Startup Tab: you can open in a second window a program like Word or Paint, so that one window has MSCONFIG and the other Word. Then when you view the contents of startup in MSCONFIG press the PrintScreen key on the top right corner of the keyboard (on some systems it only works if you also press the Shift key ie <Shift> < PrintScreen>).
  
  Pressing PrintScreen places a copy of the screen on the clipboard, then you can switch to the other program (ie Word) , create a New blank document (ie | File | New | Page | ) and from the top menu select | Edit | Paste | , this will paste a picture copy of the viewable portion of the startup window, then you can go back, scroll to more startup items and again press PrintScreen, switch to word and paste that window as well, then save the Word page or print it out to the printer for future reference.

How to configure Netgear Extender With Wireless

I have a wireless router in my house and I found that the wireless signal that I am receiving is very weak. I talk with my friends and make some research on the online and I have found that I need to connect Wireless Extender so that I can get a Excellent wireless in my house and I did and it is working fine. I believe this blog will help others too with the same problem  and I am sharing to you all the steps.

  Configure Netgear Extender.

Steps to configure Netgear Extender : 

1. we need a laptop and router to configure extender.

2. first of all we need to connect laptop to router with hardwired.

3. Reset Netgear Extender to push and hold reset button for 30 seconds using pen or paper clip.

4. After reset extender , we need to connect extender with laptop (Wireless Network) and name of the extender is Netgear_Ext (Default name after reset extender)

5.After that we need to open Command prompt and then, type ipconfig to identify the default ip address of extender (under wireless network adapter).

6. Open Extender home page using default IP address of extender (192.168.1.XX).

7. Then it will automatically setup your extender and then it will ask you to enter router network name (SSID) and password (Network Key).

8. It will automatically configure your extender with router and then extender will provide to SSID and Network Key or Password to connect the devices with Wireless Network of Extender.

9. Then you can connect your laptop or any device with the information given by extender.

How to Boot Windows8 In Safe Mode With Networking

      1.        Press the Windows key + C, and then click Settings.

                     2. Click Power, Hold down Shift on your keyboard and click Restart.
   

3.  Click Troubleshoot.

  

4. Click Advanced options.  

 

    5.  Click Startup Settings.

   

   6. Click Restart.

 

  7.   Press 5 on your keyboard to Enable Safe Mode with Networking. Windows will start in Safe Mode with Networking.

How to check the system information?

I have found that most of  users does not know how to check  the system information of there computers. So, here the way that we can see and know the system information.

Windows 7 & Vista

• From the Start menu, right-click Computer, then select Properties .
• System information will be displayed as shown:

Windows XP

• From the desktop or the Start menu, right-click My Computer, then select Properties .
• System information will be displayed as shown:

Mac OS X

• Click the Apple icon in the top left, and select About This Mac.
